ORTHODONTICS FOR KIDS

We all know the importance of starting early. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that your children should have an initial evaluation by the age of 7. That’s the optimal age to evaluate their skeletal development and identify the position of their permanent teeth, allowing adequate space for them to erupt while the arches and jaw bones are still developing. If there are any jaw bone development problems, or “malocclusions,” they can be treated more easily, preventing the need for more invasive work later on.

Phase I Treatment

The primary objective of Phase I treatment, also called early orthodontic care, is to catch problems early (like crowding, bite issues, or jaw growth concerns) and gently guide teeth and jaws before the adult teeth come in. This might include things like braces, expanders, or space maintainers which lay the groundwork for a smooth path to Phase II.

It’s not just about straight teeth. It’s about a lifetime of charismatic, picture-perfect, and confident expression for every child.

Clear Aligners

Clear aligners aren't just for adults. Kids love them too because they're comfy, clear, and easy to wear. This means fewer surprise trips to the orthodontist and no worries about white spots or cavities from your young one's tricky brushing. Dr. Parsaei uses Invisalign and other clear aligners to gently guide your child’s teeth into place, creating space for their grown-up teeth to come in just right. With new aligners every week or two, their smile improves step-by-step.

Braces

Braces are one of the most common and effective treatments for correcting misaligned teeth and bite issues in children. They help guide the growth of the jaw and ensure permanent teeth come in straight, setting the foundation for a healthy, confident smile while preventing serious problems later on.

Braces are typically recommended over clear aligners for younger patients because there's no risk of losing or forgetting to wear them. They also allow for more precise control over tooth movement, especially in complex cases involving severe crowding, bite correction, or a unique set of developing teeth. With an array of different options, Dr. Parsaei can personalize treatment to suit each child’s needs and style.

Meet Theo, our Chief Happiness Officer and Certified Therapy Dog. We know the orthodontist can be scary, as well as the idea of getting braces. That's why Theo is in charge of making sure that everyone is smiling as they undergo their ortho journey, especially the little ones.
